Sen. Pam Helming: I thought $12,500 stipend was a mistake

When state Sen. Pam Helming received a $12,500 stipend after being falsely listed as chair of the Senate Crime Victims, Crime and Correction Committee, she was surprised.

Helming, R-Canandaigua, knew she would receive a stipend, but thought it would be for serving as chair of the Legislative Commission on Rural Resources. Instead, Senate leaders identified her as chair of the Crime Victims, Crime and Correction committee — a post that’s actually held by state Sen. Patrick Gallivan, a western New York Republican.
