With the official passage of the 2017-2018 city of Auburn budget by the city council Thursday night, Councilor Debra McCormick remarked that this is “the beginning” of an exciting time for the city.
The council voted unanimously to approve a 2.2 percent increase in city spending from last year’s budget. The tax levy will remain unchanged from last year, with a taxable rate of $11.96 per $1,000 of assessed value, which is a seven cent decrease from 2016-2017.
