The first day after every Victor boys lacrosse game is spent looking back, and the next day is spent looking ahead. Coach Jim Andre calls them, respectively, the fix-it day and the prep day.
Earlier this month, those two days were eye-opening for the two-time defending state champions after they lost to Canandaigua, snapping a 43-game winning streak against Section V opponents that stretched back to May 2014 and included state-title runs in two different classes.
“Fix-it day, the coaches go through the film and we identify the top 10 things we did wrong,” Andre said Wednesday night. “The day after that Canandaigua game, we had a lot to fix and it was a long practice.”
The top-seeded Blue Devils learned their lessons well, and it was clearly evident during a 13-4 shellacking of the third-seeded Braves at St. John Fisher College in the Section V Class B championship game.
