Driver ID’d in fatal Locke crash

In an update Thursday night, police say the driver of the medical supply van involved in today’s serious accident in Locke on Thursday afternoon has died.

The accident happened on West Hill Rd., and was reported around 2:40 pm. It took firefighters 45 minutes to free the driver, who was identified as Zacherie C. Allen, of Ithaca.

The Lincare medical supply van was headed south when it hit the tractor trailer. Reports indicate that the truck driver had to swerve to attempt to get out of the way of the van, which crossed into its path.

Police say they will be releasing another update on Friday. This story will be updated as new information is obtained.

A serious car accident stopped traffic on West Hill Rd. between Genoa Locke Townline Rd. and Main St. on Thursday afternoon in Locke.

The Locke Fire Department was called to the scene of an accident, involving a tractor-trailer and van, which happened around 2:40 pm.

The van was a medical supply van, and the driver, according to reports was seriously injured in the wreck.

The van suffered extensive damage and took crews around 45 minutes to get the driver, who was trapped, out of the vehicle.

The driver has not been identified by law enforcement, but has been transported to Cortland Regional Medical Center for treatment of their injuries.
