Emergency personnel in Penn Yan responded to an accident involving a car and motorcycle, according to police on Friday afternoon.
Police say an investigation of the crash, which took place on Lake St. around 12:34 pm on Friday revealed that the motorcycle operated, Shawn Searles, was headed north when he was struck by a passenger vehicle heading south on Lake St., making a left turn.
Searles was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment of his injuries. Officers say he was ejected from the bike and hit his head on the vehicle’s windshield.
He was wearing a helmet during the accident.
The driver of the passenger vehicle was identified as Erla Horst. She was issued a ticket for failure to yield the right of way.
Medic 55, in addition to the Penn Yan Fire Department and Police Department were called to the scene.
