Community gets involved in Newark

The Village of Newark streets, front yards and parks got cleaner and greener recently when more than 100 people showed up for the village’s 11th Annual Community Pride Day.

Volunteers planted flowers, pulled weeds and picked up trash throughout the village on Community Pride Day, May 20th. Residents and business owners all over the village showed their pride by cleaning and adorning their own front yards and store fronts with beautiful flowers in an effort to make our community sparkle.

Congratulations to the winners of this year’s contest, Newark Hair Salon and Spa for “Most Colorful Newark Business Exterior” and to 309 East Maple Avenue for “Most Colorful Newark Resident’s Front Yard”.

The Community Pride Day Committee would like to thank the following businesses and organizations for their generous donations and support of The 2017 Newark “Color our Community Pride Day,” Sponsors: Wal-Mart, Secor Hardware and Home Center, Lyons National Bank, Newark Rotary Club, HEP/North Main Lumber/Builder’s Bargain Outlet, Newark Garden Club, Greater Newark Chamber of Commerce and the Village of Newark. Also thank you to HEP/North Main Lumber, Plassche Lumber, Q’s Landscape Enterprise, Inc., and Secor Hardware and Home Center for offering Village of Newark residents special discounts in correlation with Community Pride Day.

The committee would also like to thank the many community volunteers and residents who got their hands dirty and have colored our community with beautiful flowers!
