NY correction officers’ union honors Nozzolio with bench in Auburn park

Retired state Sen. Michael Nozzolio was a leading advocate for New York’s correction officers during his 34-year career in Albany.

On Saturday, the correction officers showed their gratitude for his support.

The New York State Correctional Officers and Police Benevolent Association, the union representing correction officers across the state, unveiled a bench at Veterans Memorial Park in Auburn honoring Nozzolio, who retired at the end of 2016.

“The legislation he fought for that became law will protect correction officers forever, and we thank him for that,” said Joe Miano, vice president of NYSCOPBA’s western region.
