Community stock drive saved Rochester Red Wings 60 years ago

Ed Blasko was a young worker in Kodak’s motion picture film division in the winter of 1956 when his heart sank hearing the news.

The Rochester Red Wings were being sold by the parent St. Louis Cardinals. The franchise was in danger of folding unless efforts by local business leaders to raise the necessary funds were successful.
