Finger Lakes Beer Trail Summer Cornhole Tournament Series announced

The game of cornhole has been growing over the past several years in the northeast and here in the Finger Lakes. Cornhole is a lawn game in which players take turns throwing bean bags at a raised platform with a hole in the far end. A bag in the hole scores 3 points, while one on the platform scores 1 point. Play continues until a team or player reaches (or exceeds) the score of 21. The game is easy to play, fun, and can be played both socially and competitively.

Leading the growth of the game locally is Finger Lakes Cornhole an organization founded and operated by Brian Bailey. Earlier this spring, Bailey announced the Finger Lakes Beer Trail Summer Cornhole Tournament Series kicking off the inaugural season with a 7 event schedule that will have host venues across the region.

Finger Lakes Cornhole was started in a backyard in 2015 with some friends and one set of boards. Fast forward to today and Finger Lakes Cornhole is an all exclusive provider of equipment and services providing sets of cornhole boards, bags, and other accessories like score towers and drink holders. Finger Lakes Cornhole also offers event services from weekly leagues, social/competitive tournaments, fundraising opportunities, and corporate events. New in 2017, Finger Lakes Cornhole is offering private equipment rentals for only $25 per day. These rentals are perfect for weddings, graduation parties, and family reunions. The rental package includes a set of boards, bags, and score tower.

The game of cornhole is shifting from the backyard and tailgate parties to bars, restaurants, wineries, and craft breweries.

The mission of Finger Lakes Cornhole is to grow the game in the region by offering the most opportunities to play the game and has partnered with local businesses to bring a summer filled with events.

The Finger Lakes Beer Trail Summer Cornhole Tournament Series will stop at popular bars, wineries, and craft breweries. The cost is $10 per person at each event and registration for the event is exclusively online at fingerlakescornhole.weebly.com.

All events are blind draw and double elimination. Partners will be assigned randomly in a blind draw format. Every team will be guaranteed 3 games. Space is limited at each event to the first 72 registered players who will compete for cash and other prizes. In addition to the individual tournaments, the top 4 teams at each event are guaranteed a spot at the Finger Lakes Cornhole Championships on September 30th.

The first event of the season kicks off on Saturday at the Switzerland Inn on Keuka Lake.
