A local law that would waive the existing residency requirement for people serving as second-in-charge department heads will be discussed at Thursday’s Government Operations Committee meeting.
Currently, people in those positions must reside in Seneca County. But committee chair Cindy Lorenzetti, D-Fayette, said there has been an issue enforcing the residency requirement in recent years.
“If we can’t enforce it, maybe we should get rid of it,” Lorenzetti said.
The residency issue arose when a former assistant county attorney indicated he was living in Seneca County when it was found he was actually living in Geneva.
