Yates Co. Chamber names Julie Coleman as Interim Executive Director

The Yates County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors has announced the selection of Julie Coleman as the new Interim Executive Director.

“The Board is pleased to welcome Julie Coleman as their new Interim Director,” stated Board Chair Kathy Waye. “Julie was raised in Yates County and she has an extensive knowledge of the community, tourism, municipal functions and marketing within and around this area and additionally is an accomplished grant writer and journalist.”

“I am pleased to serve in this position and to bring a new energy and enthusiasm for tourism, business, and community to Yates County,” said Coleman. “I have an excellent team to work with and we are excited to lay the groundwork for new services and to lay a new, solid foundation to promote the economic growth of the county. We want to tell its story, and maintain the traditional values and charm that make the local area what it is.”

Coleman graduated from Nazareth College in 2005 with a Bachelor’s Degree in History. From there, she has served in various capacities, involving non-profit, for-profit, and municipal entities. Coleman’s resume includes 15 years of management, journalism and public relations experience. Most recently, Coleman served as the Director of Marketing and Communications for the City of Geneva, helping to secure the win of All-America City in 2015.

“I have a strong passion for the Finger Lakes Region, but my home will always be in Yates County,” said the thirty-three year old. “I have nothing but extreme reverence for the individual who served in this position for the past 24 years, and I seek to carry on his vision and contagious passion.”

Coleman currently lives in Penn Yan with her partner, Tommy, and six-year-old daughter, Lilyann.
