On Saturday May 20th at 11 am, the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office will be hosting the third annual Law Enforcement Memorial Service at the Steuben County Public Safety Building, 7007 Rumsey St. Extension in Bath.
This ceremony is at the conclusion of National Police Week and commemorates the law enforcement professionals in Steuben, Allegany, Chemung, Livingston, Ontario, Schuyler and Yates Counties who have made the ultimate sacrifice in serving their communities. The first phase of construction of the Steuben County Law Enforcement Memorial Park is complete and will be featured in the memorial ceremony.
Nationwide last year, 145 law enforcement officers lost their lives in the line of duty. This year we have already lost 48 officers nationally, an increase of thirty percent from this time last year.
The devastation caused to the communities and families that each of these deaths represent is incalculable. Please join your local law enforcement leaders, government leaders, area school children, veterans and community members on Saturday May 20th at 11 am at the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office to honor and pray for those who have been lost, and for those who remain and remember.
