Motorcyclist ejected after pickup truck driver doesn’t see him in Canandaigua

Deputies in Ontario County say they reported to a personal injury motor vehicle accident on State Route 21 in Canandaigua on Friday around 1 pm.

They say Michael Cain, 62, of Palmyra was traveling south on his motorcycle and Matthew Nielson, 40, was traveling north in a pickup truck.

Deputies say Nielsen did not see Cain riding the motorcycle and made a left turn in front of Cain, who was attempting to turn onto Andrews Rd.

The motorcycle struck the rear of the truck and the driver, Michael Cain, was ejected from the bike.

He was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, according to officials.

The Canandaigua Fire Department responded to the scene and Cain complained of shoulder pain. He was transported to F.F. Thompson Hospital by Canandaigua Ambulance.

Neilsen was uninjured, but was issued a traffic citation for failure to yield the right of way to another vehicle making a left turn.
