More than 80 residents and community leaders participated in the first input session of the new Seneca County Strategic Economic Development Plan. The meeting, held at the South Seneca High School in Ovid, provided community stakeholders with an opportunity to voice their recommendations for developing the county’s first unified economic development strategy in more than a decade.
“We would like to thank the many people that came to South Seneca to help launch this initiative,” said Bob Aronson, Executive Director of the Seneca County IDA. “Their input and cooperation is vital to the success of this project and has provided a solid foundation from which to build the plan.”
In addition to collecting feedback and recommendations, the event also marked the launch of a new community-wide marketing campaign called “One Seneca.” The campaign is an effort to provide collaborative leadership, education and organization for initiatives that impact the Seneca County community. It is a representation of the teamwork and diverse resources that exists in the community. Its goal is to help foster a unified approach to address common issues that help make Seneca County a better place to live, work and visit.

This initiative creates a powerful bond among stakeholders and helps enhance our unified efforts to continue the historic resurgence of Seneca County as the premier Finger Lakes Gateway community.”
The second public input session for the Seneca County Strategic Economic Development Plan is scheduled for Thursday, May 18 at the Seneca County Health and Senior Services Building, 31 Thurber Drive in Waterloo. In addition to the public meeting, all community stakeholders are encouraged to provide their feedback on the new plan by completing an online survey at www.oneseneca.com.
