Cayuga Onondaga BOCES’ Practical Nursing Program was selected by the website practicalnursing.org as the state’s top licensed practical nursing program.
Andrea Ruff, coordinator of health care occupations for BOCES, believes the honor is a testament to the efforts of those involved, saying she’s glad the staff can receive some recognition for their hard work.
The course is 11-months long, with two months of prep work and nine months of clinical work at sites such as Auburn Community Hospital and The Commons on St. Anthony in Auburn, Ruff said. She said students put in 1,210 hours — half doing clinical work, half in class — for the program.
