New bill introduced to financially assist homeowners, businesses with flooding costs

The State Senate quickly passed new legislation introduced in Albany Tuesday afternoon. It will provide immediate financial relief for local towns, homeowners and businesses affected by widespread flooding from a rising Lake Ontario. It will now head to the State Assembly for a vote.

State Senator Pamela Helming and Assembly Majority Leader Joseph Morelle co-sponsored the bipartisan bill, which makes emergency funds available to those along the lake shore within 48 hours. Previously, emergency aid would not be made available for 120 days.
