Woman transported to Strong after Bristol crash

Deputies in Ontario County say they responded with Naples Ambulance and Naples Fire Department to a one car accident on Route 64 in South Bristol on Monday.

When they arrived, deputies found a vehicle operated by Charlene Bowen, 61, of Wayland had been traveling north on Rt. 64 when she began to swerve to avoid a deer and was further distracted by a ringing cell phone in her vehicle.

The car traveled onto the east shoulder of the road and over two driveway embankments — before vaulting onto it’s roof and landing on all of it’s wheels facing south.

Bowen was wearing a seat belt at the time of the wreck, according to deputies. She suffered facial lacerations and complained of pain in her back and chest.

She was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital by Naples Ambulance.

No tickets were issued.
