Frost possible on Tuesday morning; FLX will dry out this week

It’s May. Spring is here.

We shouldn’t be talking about frost, right?

Well, not so fast.

The latest forecasts show below normal temperatures across the region, which means the increased chances of seeing a rogue frost as we near the middle of May.

According to FLX Weather Meteorologist Drew Montreuil the best chance for a frost in the Finger Lakes this week will be Tuesday morning.

He says that temperatures will be like they have been the last two days, and will struggle mightily to stay in the mid-30s.

He says that by the end of the week, temperatures will moderate and those lows will rise into the low-40s. However, daytime highs will continue to struggle, staying well-below “seasonal” averages.

Montreuil says the big gain this week won’t be in form of temperature — but rather in the more settled weather pattern.

That’s right — less rain is in the forecast.

Monday and Tuesday will be plagued by occasional showers, but it won’t be like the weekend, which was dominated by showery weather. Instead the region will have some time to dry out, especially during the second half of the week.
