An organized probation initiative in Steuben County resulted in one arrest — after a sex offender was found to be violating the conditions of his parole.
Sheriff James Allard and Probation Director Cheryl Crocker say they were assisted by State Police and that the six hour detail utilized three local agencies.
They executed unannounced home visits of probationers to ensure that they were complying the the terms of their court orders.
Altogether they visited 87 residences in Steuben County. A total of nine teams were comprised to cover the region more quickly.
Through their efforts, they report that Donald J. Gulick, 45, of Painted Post was arrested after he was found to be in possession of pornographic material.
Gulick is a registered sex offender, and possessing pornographic material violated the terms of his probation.
He was immediately transported to the Steuben County Jail and held on no bail.
Gulick will answer the charges at a later date, according to deputies.
