Though already in the budget, Cayuga County legislators took the next step to provide some funding to the county’s nine libraries. The body voted to enter into a contract and article of agreement with the libraries at its full meeting Tuesday night, reinstating some of the funding it had cut in 2013.
The county will fund the Aurora Free Library, Fair Haven Library, Hazard Public Library, Stewart B. Lang Memorial Library, Port Byron Library, Powers Library, Seymour Library, Springport Free Library and Weedsport Library $3,500 each totaling $31,500. That’s a little more than half of what library advocates had requested from the county last year.
