Benefit aids Williamson grandmother with medical expenses

A special benefit will be held to help a Williamson grandmother fighting cancer.

Sandy Wickman has been fighting three different types of cancer over the past five years. Sandy is now undergoing treatment for acute myeloid leukemia. The treatment requires Sandy to travel to Rochester General Hospital every other day – that is when she is well enough to be at home. More often, Sandy endures long stays at the hospital to gather her strength.

A long term battle for Sandy, she has had the support of her family as she continues her fight. But the battle is taking a toll.

The Benefit for Sandy event has been set up to help Sandy and her family. The benefit will be held Saturday, April 29th from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Sodus Center Fire Department at 5521 Main Street in Sodus Center. The day will include a chicken barbecue with two sides for just $10. Eat in or take out available.

The day will feature music by Country Magic, 50/50 raffles, drawings and more. Guests are encouraged to bring a lawn chair and enjoy the festivities.

All proceeds will go to help Sandy pay medical expenses.
