Cayuga Sheriff’s Office will hold safety seat event

Cayuga County Sheriff David Gould says that members of his department and the Sheriff’s Benevolent Association will be partnering with the Auburn Elks Lodge No. 474 on Sunday, May 21st to offer free child safety seat inspections.

The event will be held from 11 am until 2 pm and will be located at the Cayuga County Highway Garage located at 91 York St. next to the Auburn Elks Lodge.

Certified child passenger safety technicians from the Sheriff’s Office, Cayuga Seneca Action Agency, and Auburn Internal Medicine and Pediatrics will be providing the inspections and asssting with installations of the restraints.

Replacement child restraints will be available if needed thanks to a grant provided by the Elks National Foundation and the local Auburn Elks Lodge. Elroy the Elk will be attending and assisting with the event and will be helping distribute drug awareness coloring books and bookmarks.

A chicken barbecue will begin at 11 am, hosted by the Auburn Elks Lodge, which will continue until they are sold out to commemorate the event.
