Katko wants more federal funding for Owasco Lake, CNY water infrastructure

U.S. Rep. John Katko visited Cayuga County Friday to highlight his recent calls for more federal funding to support water infrastructure projects in central New York.

Katko, R-Camillus, held a press conference at Emerson Park in Owasco to outline the need for more federal aid to help communities improve water infrastructure.

Specifically, Katko said he supports doubling two state revolving funds for clean water and drinking water projects. He spearheaded a letter that was sent to House Appropriations Committee leaders calling for increased federal aid for the two programs. The letter was signed by 77 House members from both parties.

New York has been one of the biggest beneficiaries of the state revolving funds, Katko said.
