Endorsements have begun in the race to be the next Ontario County district attorney — and county conservatives made a somewhat surprising choice Thursday.
Honeoye-area native Kristina “Kitty” Karle said she has received the endorsement of the county’s Conservative Committee.
She is one of two Republicans running for the seat held by R. Michael Tantillo, who is stepping down as district attorney at the end of the year after nearly three decades on the job.
The other candidate in the race is Jim Ritts, who serves as first assistant district attorney and has the backing of Tantillo.
Karle and Ritts requested endorsements from the Conservatives, Party Chairman Mike Kloppel said. Kloppel added that the committee interviewed both candidates on the same night.
