The Finger Lakes region is getting $12 million from New York State to fight the heroin and opioid epidemic.
The funding was announced after Governor Andrew Cuomo signed the legislation that gives $213 million to New York State to combat heroin.
The funding will help support prevention, treatment and recovery programs. The programs will target chemical dependency, public awareness and educational activities.
“We have made significant progress in combatting the devastating heroin and opioid epidemic in New York, but this crisis continues to plague our communities and we must do everything in our power to combat each facet of this complex health emergency,” said Governor Cuomo.
