Romulus’ McDonald questions 2006 Seneca County law

In 2006, the Seneca County Board of Supervisors approved a local law denying a building permit to a property owner who is more than 90 days behind in property tax payments.

It is believed to be the only county in the state with such a provision.

Tuesday, Casey McDonald of Romulus, owner of many “distressed” properties for redevelopment, told the board that such law is unconstitutional and urged supervisors to rescind it.

He got some support from board members. “Each of you took an oath to support the U.S. and state constitutions to the best of your ability,” McDonald said.
