Auburn man sentenced for Cayuga County robbery

An Auburn man was sentenced to prison Thursday for robbing a man in Cayuga County.

Vann MackNail, 33, of 14 James St. Apt. 2, was arrested in August 2016 and charged with second-degree robbery and fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property.

According to the Auburn Police Department, at around 2:30 a.m. Aug. 20, MackNail and his co-defendant, Junnell Copes, assaulted three people walking near State and Wall streets.

Police said an officer witnessed the attack from a guard tower at Auburn Correctional Facility. One of the victims was found unconscious at 140 State St. while the other two victims suffered minor injuries.
