Geneva VFW seeks families of WWI vets

Thursday marked the 100th anniversary of the United States’ entry into the “Great War,” which would later be known as World War I.

Local residents who served during that war went on to become charter members of Geneva Memorial Post 2670 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, along with a few veterans of the Spanish-American War and the Philippine Insurrection. They formed the post in October 1932.

With the 85th anniversary of the post coming up later this year, current members are organizing an event to honor the inaugural members. They are reaching out to descendants and family members of the charter group, as well as families of other war veterans who may not have been members of the VFW.
