Syracuse basketball hires Allen Griffin as assistant coach

After rumors swirled earlier this week about a new coaching hire, Syracuse officially announced Allen Griffin will join head coach Jim Boeheim’s staff as an assistant coach.

Griffin filled the vacancy left open by former head-coach designate Mike Hopkins, who left to become Washington’s head coach. Like Hopkins, Griffin will coach the centers. He spent the last six seasons as an assistant coach at Dayton, but returns to the school where he played from 1997-2001 and served as an administrative assistant in 2003 and 2004.
