Temperatures mild to start week; uncertain late-week weather

FL1 File

Spring is here.

The temperatures and sunshine on Sunday made it feel a little more like April — compared to the raw temperatures felt Saturday.

That said, it’s going to be an active weather week, according to FLX Weather Meteorologist Drew Montreuil.

Montreuil says temperatures of at least 60 degrees are likely on Monday. While a shower or two is possible, it’s unlikely until evening or the early-overnight hours.

Rain will move into the Finger Lakes this evening, with a steady rain falling for several hours before midnight, according to Montreuil. The wind will pick up as this rain moves in, with gusts over 30 mph this evening.

Then things will get complicated:

“Precipitation will become more scattered by Tuesday morning, but there will still be plenty of showers around, especially Tuesday afternoon. A few thunderstorms may also develop Tuesday afternoon as a cold front moves through. Total precipitation amounts will be between a half and one inch.

Temperatures tonight will only back into the mid and upper 40s while highs Tuesday will again be near or above 60 degrees.

Strong winds will develop later Tuesday between Rochester and Buffalo with gusts of 50-60 mph possible.”
