Seneca County’s location on the state Thruway between Rochester and Syracuse and the nearby del Lago Resort & Casino and Petro Travel Center could make it a gathering site for the sexual exploitation of children.
The state’s Office of Children and Family Services wants to help prepare the county for implementation of a Safe Harbor facility in 2018.
The Board of Supervisors' Human Services Committee has voted to accept a $23,000 grant from the state for its Department of Human Services Workforce Development-Youth Bureau to support Youth Bureau efforts to raise awareness of human trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation of children.
