CLARA’S LAW: Helming, Kolb push legislation that would require to health care providers to report abuse

Ed Bowman’s quest to protect patients from being abused by hospital and nursing-home workers is moving closer to reality.

The Seneca County native has reached out to state legislators as part of an effort to see a law passed that would require hospitals and healthcare facilities to report incidents of sexual abuse by employees to the state Health and Education departments.

So far, his effort appears to be a success.

Identical bills have been introduced in the Assembly by Minority Leader Brian Kolb, R-131 of Canandaigua, and state Sen. Pam Helming, R-54 of Canandaigua.
