Watershed group writes Reed to express concerns

Cayuga Lake Watershed Network recently sent a letter to Rep. Tom Reed, expressing concern that federal laws protecting clean water resources may be weakened in coming months.

Reed’s 23rd Congressional District includes not only most of Cayuga and Canandaigua Lakes but also all of Seneca, Keuka and Chautauqua Lakes. The letter calls on Reed to protect these lakes, and stresses that the “economic and environmental vitality” of New York, the USA and his district depend on keeping water protections strong.

The Watershed Network works with 45 communities in the six counties surrounding Lake Cayuga. It urged Reed to strongly oppose all efforts to undermine the Clean Water Act, including the Clean Water Rule (a.k.a., Waters of the United States).
