Proposed Waterloo village budget shows unchanged tax rate

Village property owners will not see an increase in their village tax rate in the proposed 2017-18 village budget.

The tax rate would remain at $18.92 per $1,000 if the budget is adopted.

“We have found ways to absorb cost increases without asking taxpayers to pay a higher tax rate. We’ve held the line,” said Don Northrup, village administrator.

The village has begun negotiations on new labor contracts with unions representing the police department and the public works department. Wage increases for those employees have been figured into the budget.
