Seneca Falls Police Department receives $600 grant for D.A.R.E. program

The Seneca Falls Police Department has received a $600 grant for its Drug Abuse Resistance Education program from last year’s Seneca County Youth Bureau/Youth Board golf tournament.

Police Chief Stuart Peenstra and Youth Bureau Director Mike Whirtley said each year, the youth bureau and youth board give proceeds from the tournament to local youth programs, events and educational scholarships to county youth.

Grant proposals are submitted in December and January, then reviewed and selected for funding. Criteria includes programs or events geared for Seneca County youth up to the age of 20, school-based or community-based program, and new or enhanced programs and activities.
