South Seneca seniors end stellar careers short of 2nd title

As head coach Heather Mott spoke of the South Seneca community’s overwhelming support, a player could be heard over the phone yelling in excited exclamation.

The towns that make up South Seneca High School have been big supporters of an incredible two-year run by the Falcon girls basketball team, even if it ended sooner than anyone would have liked over the weekend. The announcement Monday was a shipment of flowers the first school day after South Seneca fell two victories short of a second consecutive Class C New York state girls basketball title.

The Falcons lost to the Port Jefferson Royals, 71-53, in the second state semifinal held at Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC) in Troy Saturday afternoon, March 18.
