Police, firefighters and area residents who took action that saved lives during 2016 will be honored at the Ontario County Safety Council’s awards banquet.
The 54th annual awards will be given out March 28 at Canandaigua Inn on the Lake. There will be a social hour starting at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 7.
The Life Saving Award will go to two police officers, Ontario County Sheriff’s Deputy Karl Nelson and state police Sgt. Brian McAfee.
A number of people will receive the Dr. Ben Lankheet Heart Starter Award. It is named for the late Dr. Ben Lankheet, a physician, executive and former medical director for Thompson Health who died in 2015.
