An Elmira man is facing multiple charges after he fled police, leading deputies on a pursuit in Newfield.
Deputies say that they attempted to stop a GMC pickup truck on March 19th around 3:23 am when the vehicle fled from deputies and drop onto the railroad tracks near Hillview Rd.
The truck drove down the tracks and eventually was stuck in the snow. When the truck became stuck — the driver, identified as Nathan R. Nehrbass, 35, of Elmira — fled on foot.
He was caught, and the passenger of the vehicle was identified as well.
Nehrbass was charged with third-degree unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, as well as multiple traffic violations.
He was remanded to the Tompkins County Jail after being arraigned. He appeared in court on March 21st in the Town of Ulysses.
