Police in Seneca County are urging residents to lock their vehicles following a spate of recent thefts, including some in which guns were stolen.
“All of the various police agencies in Seneca County have been very busy lately with complaints of thefts from vehicles that are unlocked,” said state police Inv. Anthony DeMarco, who works out of the Troop E barracks in Waterloo. “Some of these stolen items have included handguns and other firearms, as well as money, electronics and other personal items.”
DeMarco and his colleagues are reminding residents on the importance of properly securing the vehicles. That includes locking them, not leaving keys inside and keeping valuables at home.
