Light snow will move into the Finger Lakes on Saturday, but not until another sunny day on Friday.
Skies are clear across the Finger Lakes this morning as high pressure crosses the region. The next weather system is tracking from the Midwest into the Great Lakes.
This system will start to spread some high, thin clouds into the Finger Lakes during the midday hours with a bit thicker of a cloud cover later in the afternoon.
Friday will remain precipitation free, however.
Temperatures today will rise into the upper 30s this afternoon.
Clouds will continue to thicken overnight and light precipitation should begin to break out from southwest to northeast during the mid and late morning hours on Saturday.
Temperatures at the surface and aloft will be just cold enough to keep most of the precipitation as snow. A little rain mixing in is not out of the question, especially for areas further south and west.
Snow will generally be light but will persist through the afternoon and into the early evening hours. Total accumulations of 1 to 3 inches are expected, with the highest amounts over the higher elevations of the eastern Finger Lakes and Central New York.
