Geneva Center of Concern: Don’t dump here

The Geneva Center of Concern has one goal: Helping those who need a helping hand. Whether it’s purchasing food for its pantry or providing emergency assistance to families in crisis, it all takes money.

Most of the Center’s operating expenses come from its thrift store at 58 Avenue D, which offers used clothing, furniture and other household items at affordable prices. But the center has had to use some of those precious funds targeted to help the needy to quash a disturbing trend.

Center Director Cheryl Toor said people are dumping furniture, clothing and other items on their front porch at times when the center is closed.
