NWS: Wind gusts in excess of 50 mph reported in FLX

Wind gusts reported by NWS.

Wind chills Thursday will be in the teens as gusty winds continue to buffet the Finger Lakes.

After temperatures pushed into the upper 60s on Wednesday, Thursday is a sharp return to the reality that it is only March 2nd, which is still solidly winter’s realm in the Finger Lakes.

Temperatures will spend most of the day in the 20s or low 30s, but with strong winds, it will feel more like the teens throughout the day. The wind will continue to gust over 40 mph at times throughout the day. Wind Advisories remain in place for most of the region.

The wind will slowly taper off later this afternoon as yesterday’s storm system pulls away.

Morning snow showers will also end as the low moves away, but some areas in the eastern Finger Lakes could see an inch or so of accumulation this morning before the snow ends. Some sun should work out between the clouds this afternoon with partly cloudy skies overnight.
