Seneca County Manager John Sheppard will not administer the county’s water and sewer districts — at least not now.
The Public Works Committee of the Board of Supervisors took no action Tuesday on a proposed motion relieving Highway Superintendent Roy Gates from administration of the single water district and two sewer districts and giving those duties to Sheppard.
The committee considered a motion that would rescind an earlier motion appointing Gates as administrative and operations head of the districts. Gates was paid $1,000 a month in addition to his highway superintendent salary for the extra duties.
The resolution states that under county law, a county official may be appointed as administrative head “provided that he or she shall receive no additional salary or compensation for such services.”
