Trustee David Duprey said the village’s future looks bright.
It may turn out to be even brighter, thanks to new, energy-efficient street lights.
Speaking at Monday’s board meeting, Duprey said preliminary discussions and fact-gathering have taken place on converting the existing high-pressure sodium light fixtures to LED fixtures to save money.
He said the village spends $100,305 now on electricity to run its street lights. Switching to LED fixtures would result in an electric bill of $6,611 and a savings of $93,693.
“The arms and heads are owned by (New York State Electric & Gas),” Duprey said. “The conversion would have the village buy arms and heads from the utility and pay a vendor to switch them out and provide a maintenance contract.”
