In light of the $4 million deficit the Auburn Enlarged City School District faces with its 2017-2018 budget, the proposed spending plan was presented Tuesday night.
Lisa Green, the district’s school business executive, said at the school board meeting that the overview was a “status quo” budget, meaning a budget that didn’t include staff reductions to make up the difference.
According to the presentation, the preliminary budget gap is $3,623,159. With the use of reserve funds — including retirement and insurance reserves —to help lessen the deficit, the current budget gap would be $2,033,159.
