NOT SO FAST: CEO refutes rumor of immigration raid at Red Jacket Orchards

Reports have swirled that U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement members performed a raid in the area and detained 50 people who are classified as illegal immigrants. Those reports, posted on social media and through emails, suggested they were at Red Jacket Farms in Geneva.

However, Brian Nicholson, president and CEO of Red Jacket, based in Geneva, said Monday that no such raid occurred at the business. The family-owned company has multiple operations, including farms and a retail store on Routes 5&20.

“It’s surprising to us,” said Nicholson, who said the fear over President Donald Trump’s executive order on undocumented immigrants has created “near hysteria” in some parts of the country.

He said no such raid took place at Red Jacket.
