Joint sewer plant proposed in Wayne County

Three Wayne County governments are in the early stages of planning a potential regional wastewater-treatment plant that would not only help the communities comply with environmental regulations but encourage business and residential development as well.

The towns of Marion and Macedon, as well as the village of Palmyra, are considering a joint facility that would feature the latest wastewater treatment technology with the goal of serving the communities for decades.

The three municipalities own aging plants that are having difficulty complying with state environmental regulations. “Each of us needs a substantial upgrade to our plants,” Marion Supervisor Monica Deyo said.
