Auburn man accused of felony DWI after allegedly sideswiping parked vehicle

A 35-year-old man was charged with driving while intoxicated early Sunday morning after sideswiping a parked vehicle in Auburn, according to the Auburn Police Department. Police said Rondell T. Smith, of Auburn was heading west on Woodlawn Avenue at around 2:33 am when his vehicle drifted into the left lane and hit the parked vehicle.

Officers were called to the scene in the area of 267 Woodlawn Ave. and spoke with at least one individual who reportedly witnessed the incident. Smith, meanwhile, was subjected to a field sobriety test, but refused to take a breath test, police said. In a subsequent search of Smith’s person, police said they found 20 grams of marijuana — in 18 bags — in Smith’s pockets.
