Gerald Drumgoole hit the go-ahead and put-away buckets in overtime as Irondequoit narrowly got past Athena 53-49 on Cooper Road Wednesday night.
It was an excellent game with strong defense and few mistakes on both sides.
Kenny Speed hit a layup with 30 seconds left in regulation to knot the game at 43. The Eagles had three point blank chances at the buzzer, but none fell.
The game was still tied with two minutes to go in overtime. Drumgoole got position in the blocks and spun down low for a go ahead layup.
