Sipp attempted murder trial begins

Did Don Sipp attack his estranged girlfriend after she packed up his clothes and told him to get out of her house, or did a mystery man stab them both before getting away? That is the question a Seneca County jury will have to answer after opening statements and testimony in Sipp’s trial began Tuesday in county court.

District Attorney Barry Porsch laid out his case over the incident during the early-morning hours of April 9, 2016, on Seneca Road in Covert. Porsch said Sipp and his girlfriend, Jamelle Callon, were living in the home — which was rented in Callon’s name — and even though they broke up several days before, Sipp was sleeping on the couch. Porsch said Callon had a bad feeling on April 8, a Friday, and took a picture of herself.
